Connell Persico Scholarship
For Significant Contributions to the LGBT Community
Alliant International University

$2,500 Award to a student

In an effort to strengthen the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender work being accomplished at Alliant International University, Dr. Connell Persico (University Professor at Alliant) established an endowment fund in his name to support students who demonstrate exceptional leadership in the LGBT community.

In Dr. Persico’s words: “Alliant should serve as a beacon to students interested in LGBT issues in psychology, organizations and education. Alliant’s curriculum is inclusive, its faculty is diverse, and its mission is one of human rights and social justice. Back in the 1970s, Alliant was at the forefront in the inclusion of sexual orientation within its non-discrimination clause and in establishing a safe and supportive climate for LGBT students. In the late 1980s, it quietly implemented domestic partner benefits for LGBT faculty and staff. In its passionate commitment to multiculturalism, Alliant has always included sexual orientation as a key component.  This award will serve to further support LGBT contributions made by Alliant’s students.”

Applicants for the Persico scholarship must be currently enrolled in a degree program at Alliant International University and submit a 3-4 page proposal (typed, double spaced, using 12-point Times Roman font, 1-inch margins all around) describing:
