Credentials & Certificates Offered by GSOEThe Graduate School of Education (GSOE) at Alliant International University offers a full spectrum of credential, certificate and degree programs geared toward addressing the educational needs of all learners in the 21st century, from that learner’s entry into school through his or her adult life. Each program integrates important psychological concepts into coursework, focusing on what is successful in education for diverse populations. Credentials The Graduate School of Education recommends that students from our programs to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) Certification, Assignment and Waivers Division for credentialing in designated areas. CCTC awards credentials based on these recommendations, allowing the student to practice in a California public school. It is the mission of CCTC’s Certification, Assignment and Waivers Division “to promote educational excellence and assure that the children of the State of California have fully qualified individuals to provide them with instruction and guidance ….” Alliant’s CCTC-approved credentialing programs include preparation for the following credentials:
TESOL Certificate
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages This 15-unit certificate program may be applied towards a Master of Arts in Education degree with specialization in TESOL. The program addresses the following:
CTEL Certificate Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate: Online and San Diego, Irvine, Fresno, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Graduate School of Education (GSOE) offers a California Teachers of English Learners (CTEL) Program leading to the CLAD Certificate. This program consists of 12 semester units of graduate study. Students completing this CCTC-approved program will receive their CLAD Certificate and are not required to take the CTEL test. The program is designed for California credentialed teachers who teach linguistically and culturally diverse students. This program is offered online with three required classes at Alliant's San Diego, Irvine, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Campuses. Courses taken for this certificate apply toward the Master's in TESOL. (Additional tuition fees and articulations requirements apply). Applicants must satisfy all master's degree admissions requirements. |
