The Bridge to the Future Campaign

We are poised to begin, but we need your financial help. To start the process we have established the Bridge to the Future fund raising campaign to raise $5 million over the next 18 months.

$3 million will fund the renovation of Walter Library as a temporary home for the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management. The permanent improvements to the Library will update it for use by other programs in the future.

$1 million will help complete campus master planning and architectural drawings for the Center for Innovation in Behavioral Health, a clinical and teaching facility for psychology, marriage and family therapy and other applied social sciences.

$1 million will match a gift from donor Richard C. Hawk for general support.

History of the University

Alliant was formed in 2001 through the combination of United States International University (USIU) and the California School of Professional Psychology. USIU traces its history back through two prior San Diego institutions, California Western University and Balboa College, first established in 1927.

Alliant is a not-for-profit institution of higher education, accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Donations to Alliant are tax-deductible. For more information, contact Mr. John DeMichele, Vice President for Development at (858) 635-4777.

A New Vision for Alliant's
San Diego Campus

For more than 80 years, Alliant International University and its predecessor institutions have helped shape San Diego. Our location has changed over the years, as has our name, but through it all we have helped to provide opportunities and to prepare leaders for San Diego and the world.

Our 124-acre campus at Scripps Ranch is a magnificent setting. Its highest point offers a 360 degree panorama: the Pacific Ocean shimmers to the West, Mount Woodson rises nobly to the north, and rolling hills draped in chaparral sage, oak and eucalyptus encircle the base. The fertile land and its inspiring view are metaphors for what is planned at Alliant--growth, vision and limitless reach to the world beyond our shores.

As a university, Alliant is built for the 21st century. Recognized as one of the most culturally and internationally diverse universities in the United States, Alliant is a magnet for talent. Alliant’s programs are groundbreaking, often setting the pace of innovation in higher education. Our mission is to give students the knowledge and skills to make immediate, positive contributions to the world. Throughout its history, Alliant has always been willing to challenge tradition, invent new methods of teaching and learning, and erase the boundaries between the classroom and the real world.

We now need to rebuild our campus to achieve even more. After nearly 40 years, our current buildings must be refurbished and new, modern facilities are badly needed. We must create a campus that is as innovative, flexible and open as our programs are--a place where people will gather from around the world to share knowledge and solve problems.

Our vision for the campus includes an extraordinary International Executive Education Center--a home for Alliant’s Marshall Goldsmith School of Management as well as a meeting place for business and professional leaders in the region.

We also have plans for a state-of-the-art Center for Innovation in Behavioral Health -- a home for Alliant’s California School of Professional Psychology where problems ranging from substance abuse to domestic violence will be studied and solved. Modern new classrooms are needed for our programs in education, programs that will help address the chronic shortage of qualified teachers in our state. And improved facilities are needed for our remarkably diverse group of undergraduate students, many of whom are the first in their families to realize the dream of a college education.

The Bridge to the Future campaign helps Alliant in two ways. First, it provides funds to begin renovating current facilities for new uses. Second, it helps us complete our master plans for the campus and design new facilities. Both are critical in the short term--helping us move closer to a dramatic new vision for Alliant and its main campus.
